Bread of Stone is a modern Christian band that consists of brothers Bill and Ben Kristijanto. The Kristijanto brothers spent most of their childhoods in
Indonesia, where they were fed daily with the word of God as they watched their evangelist father work faithfully in his ministry. When mom and dad "forced"
music lessons on their boys in their early teens, a new found love for music and worship was born. And unbeknownst to them, the seeds of a ministry were planted.
"God has called us to do this music ministry, even though at the time we did not know exactly what to do,"
says Ben Kristijanto. "We just took the step of faith and let God be in control of this ministry."
No one in the Kristijanto family had much of a musical background, let alone experience in the world of
Christian music. But that very step of faith has led to international opportunities for ministry. By
performing free of charge, the band has raised funds for numerous Christian institutions across the U.S.
for half of the past decade. They have also worked to spread the message of Christ in Indonesia, and
through a unique collaboration with several Indonesian artists produced two albums containing original
Indonesian Christian music. To date, they have distributed over 85,000 cassettes for free throughout the country - spreading the Gospel to a nation in need.
Their self-produced debut English album Broken Vessels contains all original music that will encourage
listeners and leave them with the true message of hope in Christ. With songs like "I Can't Wait", "My
Obsession" and the title track "Broken Vessels", the band members' lives are clearly reflected in their music.
"Completing that first album was a testimony of how God could use someone like me," says Ben. "My
music became a tool to glorify His name."
"You take a step of faith and he reveals a little bit of the path for us," adds band member Bill Kristijanto.
And so the band continues to be faithful and walk down the road that God has directed them to travel."
"We believe that God will use this new release in tremendous ways and that His name will be glorified,"
states Ben, with the same simple faith that found the band launching their ministry not so long ago.
