Mark Pineda (vocals/bass) and Jeff Beller (guitar/vocals) formed Academy in the summer of '02. They where both attending a local college when they first met and become good friends. They discovered similar interests in music and both had a drive to start a band. Mark remembered an old friend from high school that played the drums. We knew that he had a different style then our punk backgrounds and we liked that so we called him up to practice and we haven't stopped. Academy was born, an energized, expressive, self-driven band. Within only 6 months, Academy created a buzz through the scene and caught the ear of Orangepeal Records out of San Francisco. They contacted the band and wanted them to come down and record an EP. They jumped on the chance and went down to S .F. for one week, to create "Making it Personal". 6 amazing songs recorded at 510 Studios. Once they were back home, they geared up for a 2 month U.S. tour, Traveling as far as Chicago, IL. Now in 2004, Academy just finished their new music video for their up and coming album "What's the Connection". To be released in the spring.
